Geri, I agree. Just kinda thinking out loud here. And, on second thought, patriotic theme would probably not work, if our friends from the North in Canada participate in this.

Julie - just throwing ideas out here, you know? Sometimes I can think things in my head that I think will work but when I see it in print, I may go UGH - what WAS I thinking.

So....The Havs Just Wanna Have Fun theme could include some of the ideas that may also fit in a talent theme plus ANYTHING we would think was fun as we could have them doing human activities as well. Ex: Playing any kind of ball, frisbee, tug of war, building a snowman, skiing, snowboarding, riding a skateboard, riding on a motorcycle, dancing, dressed in costumes, doing agility, playing in water, going to a barbecue or any other kind of party, marking??? hahaha (just seeing if you were paying attention! , you get the idea.
I have not seen the Four Seasons quilt you did and now it dawns on me that you may have already covered these ideas in that??

I like this idea allot. I want to think it over a bit and sort of do my positives/negatives thought process and make sure I feel it can work with a group. I have many things I actually weigh in my head.

Wide public appeal, anticipated colors and blocks I'd receive etc. My concerns just off the top of my head is the relationship the blocks would have or not have with each other. It makes me wonder if there isn't a way to still give wide range and plenty room for creativity and yet--narrow it down a bit to insure they are all related in some fashion. Hmm...my wheels are turning.

Hav'in fun, ehh?

My surfer hav block would be something that could go on that quilt. The thing about these themes, is that some of them intertwine with each other, like Sports havs (which we tossed around one year) could also end a block that would work for another quilt (like Hav'in fun...or Toys (like a hav with a football) , etc)

Kinda neat....

I liked' Marie's idea about the Princess//girly girl..Hav quilt, and then maybe a boy themed quilt (if we were going to make 2) I can't remember what she called it though, I don't think it was girly-girl..lol

Yeah-I remember that too.
I can't remember the name exactly...but I remember thinking lace and bows.

Which makes me think of Buttons and Bows. That could be cute. We could have all boys wear a bow tie and all girls have a bow in the hair. All blocks could require a button. HMM...

I like the party idea...and since we all celebrate our havs' birthdays, how about a birthday party quilt? cakes, presents, streamers, candles, party hats, etc.

I like this idea. How about going to the ball or Hav-a-ball. Girls in dresses, tiara's, bows, . Boys in tuxedos and bow ties, top hats. You could assign either a boy or girl. Maybe pair people together, so their havs could match, be a couple. lol
