Four Seasons Forum Quilt 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This quilt will be donated to HRI to raise money for rescue dogs.If we get alot of participation,I'd love to be able to make a second quilt to donate to our Canadian Friends...going to an appropiate havanese source there. If you can make a block or 2---please join us!

:Forum Quilt Guidelines:

1.we will be using a 10"x10" block(please cut slightly larger,as I will cut them when I receive the blocks)

2.the block should be of 100% cotton fabric(quilting fabrics)

3.pre-wash all fabrics you will be using for the block to prevent shrinking and fabric color bleeding-the fabrics you use would be best if they were all cottons, however cotton blends are okay.

4. all blocks must be made to be washable

5.all blocks must depict the the season given with a hav of course!

6.blocks are due to me Feb.1,2009

7.you may use any technique you are comfortable with...such as hand applique, machine applique, pieced, embroidery, counted cross-stitch

8.feel free to ask me any questions you may have about techniques etc.

9.I want people to have fun and be creative!

Just a reminder* Do not put your design too close to the edge or it will be caught in the seam allowance

Please contact me through pm if you want to be involved in making a quilt block this year....because it is a 4 season quilt,we will need a commitment from you(and follow through)on a block with a certain season...not everyone can do summer for example or we can not have 4 seasons--you see? The quilt layout will be with "groupings" of seasons.

Just an FYI to everyone--If things go as I think they will---and we can get enough blocks for Canada to make something(I'm absolutely determined)your block may appear in either quilt. I'm going to do the best I can,but I want to keep that option open for myself,as a few blocks may look better in one rather then the other. I want the option to mix as to what is most pleasing to the eye.

"Okay---This is my list of people and number and season--Please double check for accuracy. You only need to contact me if their is PROBLEM.Otherwise--no news is good news!

Julie, I will try my very best to participate this time. I'll be back from Germany mid September and should have enough time to make a block esp. since I now own a cool sewing machine. I would love to make a Fall block, cause Pablo is a Fall kid.

Julie, sign me up for Spring!!! I've never quilted before, but I think I can combine some painting with quilting for my square.

That would be great Jocelyn--as long as your block fits within the guidelines(cotton fabric/washable,etc.)that's super! You won't have to quilt it,as that comes almost at the end of the quilt making process. I'd be happy to put you down for a Spring block!

Amanda--I hope you can join us this year! I know you'll be busy with moving and taking care of your fur kids, but if you decide you'd like to make a block or 2,just let me know!It is very early yet in the process.Blocks are not due till Feb.1 2009. I just thought I would start this early so everyone has lots of extra time for thinking about what they'd like to do etc.
