Linda,

I have seen several Havies lost while with a dog walker or staying with a trainer. This should NOT ever happen.

This is my fear. What do you recommend to keep this from happening? My pet sitter seems very responsible and she does not walk several dogs at once, but wondering if there is something I can do to safeguard my pets? I have had to switch to a pet sitter versus boarding kennel because they wont take my lab since I refuse to vaccinate him for parvo and he shows a low titer.

Some dog owners are using a GPS tracker like the TAGG system. If a dog escapes - and is wearing his collar - he can be found really quickly. Havanese Rescue has started using these for dogs who are known or suspected runners. So far, so good.

Here is the website: http://www.pettracker.com/

I really don't have any other solutions. You have found a responsible pet sitter, and if you feel comfortable mentioning this lost dog to her, perhaps she will be even more careful if that's possible.

Rudy is still missing, although his family is still receiving calls about sightings. I sure hope he is reunited with them soon.

Bette,

I don't think they suspect the dog walker, Bette. They are still looking for him. If you are on Facebook, you can help by sharing his Facebook page everywhere to keep him in front of people. Thanks!
