Teething, chewing on me, dislikes most chew toys

Hi.

It is me again!

5 month old pup, Cubby, is teething. He likes to chew on me; my hands or feet. He does not like most treats, except for pieces of cheese or turkey. He LOVES rawhide, but I read that it may be unhealthy or risky. He does not like kong; even with the cheese from the can squirted into it. I am wondering about bully sticks. Just learned what they really are and now I am over my astonishment. Are they safe? Which brands are best? Are they a good choice. Thanks.

Yes...I agree, but the dogs love them! Costco has a huge (imagine that) bag that breaks down to just over $2.00 a piece and they're not from China. Bowie loves tracheas too. My mom and I split a bag from Amazon, also not from China...hoping the forum thinks they're ok, because I didn't ask!

Scout and Truffles favorite treat is bully sticks. I only buy odorless Bark Worthies. We get the 12" and cut them half. I always throw them away before the stick can be possibly be swallowed. My two are pretty picky about the treats they like. Their other favorite is Smoke House chicken chips or jerky.

Have you heard of Windee? They're cow's trachea. Mariz loves to chew on it when she was younger, but she lost interest in it now.

I haven't tried tracheas. My friends chihuahua's really love them. My two have never lost interest in bully sticks. Almost forgot their other favorite treat are paddy whacks! 😊

Heather, now you have the "knick knack paddy whack" song playing on an endless loop in my mind! I had to Google "what the heck are paddy whacks"

Ricky likes odorless bully sticks (he eats about 6" per hour) and moose antlers (they are more expensive but last longer) to chew on. He only gets these kind of treats a couple of times a week during Momi and Popi's "bebides y botanas" hour on Friday evenings (there are TWO Fridays in our week!)

With all of Loki's dental issue, I follow the dentist recommendation of nothing that I can't bend slightly. I can't afford broken teeth. Are the Paddy Whacks softer than bully sticks?

Ella is a picky eater but not so much about chewies....She likes Himalyan Chews and odor free bully sticks... the springs. Both are actually still quite stinky, if you ask me. She hasn't come even close to finishing one of these things off and they are available to her in her toy basket all the time. She just chews and chews without eating much. I had no idea about what the bully stick was until reading this post and looking it up......I already thought they were disgusting....ugh...

I buy the Paddy Whacks at our local pet store and have never seen them anywhere else. I think it is a tendon. It isn't as hard as a bully stick and softens quickly because it is thin. I forgot about that Paddy Whack song!
