Exclamation Please help me understand how puppies think!!!

Duncan is acting very strange by the pool.He is fine with everybody in the water, but me.When I go in he barks like a fiend and runs all around. One time he fell in but I was right there and another time he jumped into my arms.
Why doesn't he like when I go in the pool and every other family member he is fine with???Strange huh????

It sounds like Duncan feels that he has to rescue you. Is he more attached to you than the other family members?

I think that he wants to be by you all the time and he doesn't necessarily want to be in the pool. When you get in the pool, it is like you are going away and he misses being by you.

I am not an expert so maybe others will have a better idea.

If Duncan is always by your side, the pool is probably not a place he really wants to go and does not want you to go in either. That would be what I think.

Hubby says it's b/c he's not familiar with the pool.I have to work on going in when it's just me and him and hopefully that will work.
Yes,Duncan is my dog and I am his mommy, the son that I never had till now that is.
Other theories have been that he thinks I'm in trouble or he wants in.
Very cute though!!He does know how to instintively doggie paddle and how cute are they when they are soaked.
I have to get some pics for you all!

We just laughed this weekend when we got into the pool, Casper ran into the house and watched us through the sliding glass door. He hates the pool, he hates it hot. We had him in the pool once to teach him how to swim to the steps, he was dramatized by it all.

YOu have to remember you are more like his mother .Its like when a little kids is left home and the mom leaves some kids will act up.I would start off by sitting at the steps and letting him get his feet wet.work real slowly with him.Take the baby steps and before you know it he will be swimming with you or sitting on the side line watching you. all the other family member is like his sibbling. Im sure he will grow out of the barking at you stage good lucky
