Harness ideas

Hi my 4 month old Havanese doesnt seem to like anything touching her head or going near her head. Her harness is one that pulls over her head and its always irritating to take it off her. Anyone recommend a good step in harness for the Havanese which will fit nicely? I read Puppia are good but have no way to adjust the neck. SHe is currently about 5.5 lbs.

there's a really detailed thread on this topic - basically the message is not every harness works for everyone - we all have our preferences - once Kipling reached one I was ready for the Buddy Belt and we've been very happy with that one

I love puppia harnesses, I have several of them but my favorite is the 'step in vest', its super easy to get on and nothing to pull over her head, she steps in and I snap and velcro her up..

it won't let me put the product link, but its like snowflake harness, for example..no, they aren't terribly tight on the neck, you can tighten up the top hook to where it is secure, I've never had her get out of one. I buy most of mine from a seller on Ebay.

You should enter the halloween costume contest, I think there are some puppia harnesses as prizes

The "Puppia Harness B" is the one I think Kara is talking about. I have a few for Lily and she likes not having to have it pulled over her head like the traditional Puppia "A" Harness (shaped like a T). I have never needed to adjust the neck as it is sized pretty well and Havs dont have big necks (just big heads). The sizing runs a bit differently than the traditional "A" harness IMO, Lily would wear a size small in the "A" but the neck is too little to pull on and off with ease, so I just usually get her a medium and the neck is loose. In the "B" harness the neck and the body fits perfectly in the medium, and the small is way too little everywhere. She has worn the size medium in the "B" since she was maybe 5 months and 5 lbs and now still wears the same one at 10 lbs.

I just purchased it in this cute green apple pattern for fall:

Hope this helps!

Here is another vote for the puppia harness vest. I have a few for Cassie and I love it. It is very easy to put on and take off. And, they look adorable

I also like the Susan Lanci step in harneses in ultrasuede. They just clip on top and have 2 d-rings to attach the leash. She used to only make sizes for tiny dogs, but she does do larger sizes in this style. They are very soft and washable. You can see them on www.gwlittle.com
