Unhappy Sleeping and waking schedules?!?

Calling all moms of puppies! What is your puppies sleeping schedule both during the day and at night? When do you feed? Where does your puppy sleep? In a crate and where is it located? Im asking bc Bocce use to be the most consistent sleeper, sleeping in till 6:45-7:15 and now for a month its horrible. Even before the time change waking before 5AM and being so persistent I can't fall back to sleep even after and hour of his whining. Help...Im exhausted!

Oh no Bocce, that doesn't sound like fun. I hope we're not about to experience that change because our first 6 weeks have been pretty easy.

Henry is really good about sleeping. I would say 6 out of 7 nights he'll sleep until 6:30 or 7:00. The 7th could be a 4 or 5 am potty call although we both go back to sleep after that. One thing I did notice was that he does much better if I make sure he's eaten no later than 5:30 or 6 pm in the evening. And then a last potty between 10 and 11 pm. the more I'm consistent the more he is. I'm not always successful.

He sleeps in his crate next to my bed. For now I have it on a table so he can see me.

Good luck! Lack of sleep is a waking nightmare.

Hi, Kate and Henry!!! (Henry is one of the puppies I helped whelp, and my personal favorite!!! <3)

I agree with you... Puppies are like kids. They can revert to chaos if you let them, but YOU keeping, as much as possible, to a consistent schedule can help them get on a regular schedule.

Where they sleep is an entirely personal choice. Ours sleep in crates at night... Other people love having their dogs in bed with them. Neither is wrong, although I WOUKD hold off on bed sleeping until the puppy is TOTALLY potty trained.

I know. And I'm so grateful to you for connecting me with the fabulous Elinor. I appreciate all her hard work every day. And now Henry is my very own boy! He's so lovely. Everyone loves him.

Multiple pictures of Henry please!

I would move puppy farther away. When my ten month old would suddenly emit a bark at 3am, or my five month old began waking up at five, I moved their crates into a guest room on the other side of the house (I admit, the first week I moved there myself and the master became master dog room). With doors open I could not sleep through real trouble.

When they settle down, I will sleep with them on my bed again.

I have tried us all in bed together once since, did not work.

I remove food three hours before bed time. They sleep from between 8 and 9pm to 6am, my sleep is from ten to six and as soon as I am in kitchen making coffee, Zoe barks for breakfast.

I read that puppies sleep 17 hours a day. When Kosmo gets a little older, I will crate him later.

At 9:30 they are crated with cover and sleep until 12:30 or 1:00.

My two have crates side by side, and I suspect it is easier to get two to settle down for naps and night time than a single dog.

Sometimes they go back in at 4pm for a couple hours and sometimes only an hour. At times my older dog skips the evening nap.

How could anyone NOT love that little boy!!!

...And I knew YOU knew who I was... Was telling other people who might not know he was one of "those" puppies! I'm just excited to see you both here!
