Winter puppy socialization

This is our second winter puppy and Chicago weather has not been kind, so we have had to be creative. Hendrix has received only 2 rounds of vaccinations so we are looking for ideas we have missed. So far we have done:

Vet
Pet shop (in carrier)
Neighborhood bar (great for men, beards, hats, noise)
Granny's apartment (many caregivers coming and going)

If anyone has other suggestions to share I would greatly appreciate it. Also, any indoor activities for tiring out an energetic puppy would be great!

Lowes and Home Depot are good ones, they both allow dogs. My post office is a good place, the workers are friendly and the people in line love seeing a puppy. Some malls allow them. I take mine to stop by the groomer for a short visit and a treat (Iíve known my groomers forever YMMV). Some Petco and Petsmart stores have puppy play time on the weekends, it is free you must have proof of vaccination.

With two rounds of shots, he is probably pretty well protected. My dogs only GOT two shots... after that I tiered, and they had good strong titers without more boosters.

I would have him puppy kindergarten at a reputable dog school as soon as possible. Many more dogs die (are put to sleep) because they are poorly socialized than die of puppy diseases. I would keep him off the ground anywhere there might be unvaccinated dogs, but puppy K is not likely to be that sort of place.

If you have two people in the house, you can move to various spots and call the puppy back and forth to wear him out. Also great way to teach him to come then sit RIGHT in front of you to get treat. Fun times!

stairs can be problematic for pups leading to hip dysplasia.

Haven't had a chance to read Dave's article yet, but our tricks trainer (four-week trick class = fun!) agreed with him about the wearing out value of scent games. She said she's read that 20 minutes of scent games is as mentally exhausting as an hour running around a yard!
