Awww - I'll bet she had fun getting dirty! She cleans up nicely though and is very pretty.

You don't happen to live in the Pacific NW, do you? It has been raining here for days. Our yard is getting pretty soggy - UGH!

thank you Linda!

why yes, we are sort of in the pacific northwest... we are actually in California, but VERY Northern... the part of CA no one even realizes exists! LOL and we get VERY similar weather to Oregon! there is snow all around us right now!!
where are you!? there are NO Havs in my area... and NO ONE even knows what she is... is it wrong that I am a little insulted when people think she is a Shih tzu!? or a mix of something!?? LOL not that anything is "wrong" with those dogs, just not my preference!

We are about an hour's drive north of Portland, OR. It tried to snow here today, but didn't last. No, there are very few Havs here. In the nearly two years that we have had Augie, we have run into three, two of which were very timid and didn't want to play. The owner of the timid female was impressed by Augie's very outgoing personality and his hair and said he was totally different than her dog. It is funny how they (Havs) seem to recognize 'their kind', however. When he was a puppy, he was frequently mistaken for a Yorkie - Ha. If you read any of the old threads, there have been discussions about people's reactions when you tell them Havanese - the most common one being 'Hava-what?'. Don't think anyone has ever thought he was a shih tzu though. They usually just ask what he is.

Haha! It's so funny how the mass population of havs are in NYC. we encounter at least three on our daily walks!!! They are so popular! Butterscotch has so many hav friends! But we do get the "hava-what" occasionally.

Oh Tillie looks like she had alot of fun.!
With the exception of Augie I have not ran across another havanese in my area. A groomer told me she had just groomed a havanese that day. She told me it would coast me $65 dollars to get mats off her back legs and up a bit. Maddie was only 3mo . I noticed Tillie has had a bang trim she can see! I read that she likes her baths you are lucky my girl does not like them.
Hope you got your answers about her being sleepier and not eating as well.

Maddie at 5mo old

LOL, oh yes, she was VERY proud of herself for getting all muddy!
Tillie's breeder did a fantastic job starting her out getting used to baths and the blow dryer, I just took over when we got her!
And yes, Tillie goes to the professional groomer to get her "poop shoot", trim hair around and in between her toes and clean up her face and around her eyes (I prefer to see her eyes and since I have no intention to show Tillie, I'd rather her be more comforatble!)every 6 weeks. In between that, I wash her face and brush her out every day and do a bath and toe nail trim every week... keeps me busy!

As far as her sleeping, I really am worried that she might have a cold, her nose is really starting to run quite a bit and she just isn't as active as she normally is... I wonder if dogs get "colds"? she had her kennel cough vaccine about a month ago... hopefully some experienced moms can chime in and give me some advice!!

I think someone else on the forum was commenting about their Hav with a runny nose, but was also sneezing. You might check the Health Questions portion of the forum. If you think Tillie is acting unlike herself and it has gone on for more than a couple of days, I would probably call my vet, just to put my mind at ease. Don't know if runny nose is a symptom of kennel cough or not, but our vet didn't even recommend the vaccine because it only vaccinates for one strain and there is more than one strain of kennel cough. We did vaccinate though as Augie needed it for his classes and for doggie day care.
