He is SUCH a princess!!

First. He takes each individual kibble to his bed so he can eat in luxury.

We have throw pillows in the living room that he has claimed and likes to lay in a regal posture or to chew his bully sticks.

Starting Wednesday the ground was frosted in the morning and we had to carry him far into the yard to pee or else he’d run up the steps to try to come inside right away.

Then Friday it was sleeting. I carried him to the far part of the yard and all day he’d run under the patio table and pee (good thing our deck is teeny, so the table is just on the grass).

Today it has been snowing all day. Again, peeing occurs under the table. Now, pooping is a different issue. He poops as far from the house as he can - which means along the fence line. But, there is no cover from the snow there. He had such a rough time finding a spot that had the least possible snow coming down. He kept hunkering down, then a flake would touch is nose....It was comical.

I think you should install heating for his bathroom area, like they have in driveways so the snow melts.

Lol, we’ll just shovel a path for him around the yard. We’ve done it in the past, though his royal highness would definitely love having warm feeties whenever pottying.

...I do need to look into this driveway snow melting thing though.........

Yup, after his lack of desire to poop in the snow last night, he woke us at 5am having to go. We now have a few inches of snow on the ground and he did not enjoy it too much. Once back inside, he wouldn’t settle, so we went to the couch, I tucked him in with a blanket and he snoozed for 2 hours. So spoiled in his first snowfall.

Sadly, it was too dark for pictures.

The ex-husband installed the heated sidewalk in our backyard in Ontario for the dogs about 35 years ago! It worked well. That combined with a big overhang on the house kept a nice clear potty area.
All of my dogs have done the carrying kibble thing. It doesn't last long. Shadow can't wolf the food down fast enough to even think of carrying it around. But I think you have a boy-Princess!

That's funny with him on the throw pillows. Willow does the exact same thing! She also hates the snow and rain.

Truffles does not like rain! She runs quickly out and back, trying to stay under plants and the roof overhang. She also carries one piece of kibble to the middle of the living room eats it and then goes back for another. 🤔

Too funny that all these things that are apparently very Havanese!!

Tere, I almost want to dig up my driveway and put that in. Probably won’t in the backyard though as we can’t do any electrical work without upgrading and moving our panel thanks to code changes.

Took some pictures this afternoon! The snow is taller than him in most of the yard.

Perry HATES wet grass (And to a lesser extent rain) but loves the snow when we're in the US. But wet grass is the worst. Rain falling on him is ok, but the feet!!
