Oliver’s chocolate lightened a lot. How much did your almost completely black dog lighten? Our new girl is black except for white mitten feet . Her mama is black and white. I don’t care, just curious while waiting!
At 10 months, Shadow had white under his chin, and big v of white on his chest with jet black everywhere else. At 3, the white areas are almost gone but he is getting white hairs coming in the rest of his body.
There are blacks that fade, and there are blacks that silver. The breeder should know if that is in her lines. Then there are blacks that STAY black. There ARE some silver genes in the Starborn lines, and Pixel actually has a STUNNING silver sibling. So I was kind of hoping when she developed some silver streaks behind her ears and a HUGE stripe of silver in her tail, (you can see them in the photos of her meeting Panda) that she might have one copy of silver and change color too. Instead, she lost her "streaks" and is solid black again as an adult.
And both Kodi and Panda are absolutely BLUE black in the areas that are black. Absolutely no fading or silvering at all. So with all of mine, it was WYSIWYG.
Mama is VERY black, no fading. With white. Her general thoughts were that years back she felt like her black and whites never faded. But now she said some do. She thought with mama being so dark, Roxie would probably maintain her color-plus she's only got white "socks" and a bit of whisker. otherwise super black. But her dad is chocolate. He's a DEEP chocolate/ red everywhere. Yet Oliver faded! He's a parti, though, he always had a lot of white. His mama was a light chocolate, mostly white. So I guess we'll see! I think the colors are ALL beautiful. I like speculating while I pass the time lol
I know with Keeper, we are watching the colour change with anticipation. So far his muzzle and face up to his ears have silvered beautifully. There is still no signs of silvering on the black on his ears or back of his neck. The black on his back under his tail has dark silver roots, so I'm expecting that to lighten.
However, right on the middle line of his back is a large spattering of dark belton spots.. so ... he may end up with even more black/silver than we anticipated. LOL.
