Charley's Improvements

Good Morning Everyone!

So, Charley is finally having normal bowel movements. Which makes me incredibly happy. He finished his amoxi drops yesterday and is on the tract to be better.

Although, he was never not normal when he was having diahhrea which was a great sign.

He now barks when he wants play time, which we will work on in obedience classes at some point. He LOVES my Mom's 3 dogs. He comes over here to play EVERYDAY. And he loves ankle biting. haha. We're trying to work with him to only chew on toys, but he is VERY persistant to chew EVERYTHING he shouldnt.

He has also mastered the stairs. And not the puppy stairs to the couch. He can now get up normal stairs. He cant get down them, but he can fly up them. It's pretty cute. He used to be able to roam around our whole back room (which is all tile- so great if he has an accident) and the kitchen (which was hardwoods). Now we just block him from going into the kitchen so he cant sneak off & get upstairs and pee on the carpets.

He is hardly having accidents inside @ my moms. He follows the other dogs role to go to the door and go potty outside. I think he picked it up quicker because he saw 3 other dogs doing it. He gets praised like crazy too, which is helping.

My boyfriends house is another story. Charley goes potty outside, comes inside & pees on the floor. Not sure why and how to get him to stop. He doesn't do this everytime, but he does it enough to upset Joey.

I think he is doing great for a 10 week old :-)

Hope everyone is doing well. & here we are saying good morning (dont mind the lack of make up- I literally JUST woke up!)

Good morning Megan, I'm glad Charley Brown is doing so good. You are lucky such a young little guy has his other dog friends to follow and learn from! Puppys are funny you never know why they do what they do. Hope your boy friend loves him too!

Charley Brown is so cute! I'm glad to hear the diarrhea is finally gone. That's great that your Mom's dogs are helping to train him!

So glad to hear his stomach problems are better. He sounds really cute. Very few 10 week old puppies are reliable on house training, it takes a long time and there may be a few setbacks, but keep at it. Puppies are great fun. Enjoy!

what caused the stomach problems? Try to keep feeding him only puppy food , it's my opinion that their digestive systems are sensitive.

He is doing great, thanks for the pic!

the vet thought that maybe he had a bacterial infection in his intestines so thats why he got amoxi drops.... but it could just be because he's a puppy and sometimes loose stool is common until they begin to mature a little.. but since he has finished the prescription, we have had no issues *keeps fingers crossed*

& he isn't reliable yet with going potty outside, but he is much better than he was when we brought him home.

I just adore the name Charley Brown! It's great to hear that he's doing better. It's also a great sign that he likes the other dogs so much. That's part of what I love about Havanese as a whole--they aren't supposed to be timid! I grew up with toy poodles which can be notorious for skittishness and fear around strange animals and people. From the moment I got my Hav, she's just marched right up to cats/dogs/people she doesn't know and introduced herself, lol.
