Question Separation Anxiety

My puppy(Jellybean, just got him Saturday) is already showing separation issues... but only with me.

Last night I let my younger sister babysit him while she watched a movie and I was in my room reading a book. After maybe five minutes my Mom brought him to me and said he had been crying. The moment he saw me he was overjoyed. At the vet yesterday whenever he was not near me he would panic and struggle to get to me. As soon as I touched him or he got close enough to touch me he was totally fine. He panicked even before they did anything to him so the panic there wasn't because he was getting stuck with a needle or anything.

He stays in whatever room I am in unless I sneak away. Even if it means he has nothing to do he won't go anywhere without me leading the way. As long as I'm in the same room he'll go play with our poodle Junior or with other people. But I have to be in the same room.

So my question:

How do I help him overcome his issues?

I'm not planning to leave him for hours or anything but I want him to be okay with me leaving if I need to and I want him to be okay when left with other people watching him.

My puppy CoCo is 4 months and has some of those issues. I'm retired and I'm with with him all day. Right now he's under my feet at the computer. He does'nt like my husband to take him out to go for a walk or potty and keeps looking at the door for me. What we've started to do is have my husband be more involved with the caretaking of him and I had to let go a little. It's hard but it's working.
