Missing Paw pad

My baby Havanese puppy (9 weeks) seems to have a pad missing from his paw. We've taken him outside only twice and briefly and I was unaware of any injury. Does anyone know if this is serious? Should I call the vet (our first appointment isn't till next Thurs)? I'm worried it might get infected. He keeps apparently scratching his ear on that side and it occurred to me that he might be scratching the paw. Poor little guy. He seems otherwise just fine (though sleeping so much which I think is normal) Thanks so much.

Does it look red around the missing part? Maybe, he was born with a missing pad although you would think that the breeder would have mentioned it unless she didn't notice. Is he limping or acting like it hurts?

He has no apparent pain nor did there seem ever to be a wound. Thanks for your input.

To attach a picture, scroll down a little bit below where you type in your response...you will see 'additional options' and under that in the center a button/tab that says 'manage attachments'- click on that and you can upload photos from your computer~

You may need to resize your photo, too.

Also, if he is scratching his ear, it might be an ear infection. So, make sure the ears are checked by the Vet. Is he walking about and running about ok?
