How old is he?

Are you interested in the dog for showing & breeding, or as a pet?

he is young - born July 20th - for a pet, but I do prefer his nose does look like this. I am trying to choose between him and another little fellow... both darling but want to understand if this is a problem.

It is too early to tell.

I keep very detailed picture diaries of my puppies from the day they are whelped. Here is a picture of Piaget at 3 weeks old (similar age to the puppy you are asking about): Piaget at 3 weeks old. Here he is again at 7 weeks old. Piaget was the last (by far) to get full pigmentation in his litter. However, not all dogs get full pigmentation, so we were watching carefully if it is that important to you.

Like I said, it is too early to tell. In consideration for a pet, I would recommend that you find out more about the temperament. A lot of good breeders do temperament testing when the puppy is 7 weeks old. That will impact your home a lot more than some coloring on the nose.

I'm really sorry to read about your loss. That is hard.

No, pigmentation has no reflection on temperament. I was just suggesting that you not worry about a little lack of black on the puppy's nose and make sure your breeder is ensuring a good temperament is there.

I am eager to hear about your coming Havanese.
