I know, I know, another question

Those of you who got two havs at the same time, how did it go? Is it harder, easier? Are they still devoted to you, or more to each other? Do they settle down after they have gotten use to each other and the home life, as far as not being wrestling, etc all the time? Do you crate them together, or separately? How is potty training two? Sorry, lots of questions. Do you recommend two at once? Thanks for your answers.

Think serious and hard. Two Havs are work for the first two years. I suggest getting a second Hav after you first Hav is house broken and trained. More later.

I second what Linda said.
It's so hard having 2 puppies. If you wait until the first is trained, you'll enjoy yourself and the dogs more.
I think Dave will say that too. But there are lots of enablers on here who will tell you to go for two puppies at the same time.

haha, enablers? Does that mean, they bit the bullet and they want you to be in the same boat, lol. I think I remember seeing a post about having more than one havanese puppy at the same time, but I dont know where to find it.

I've kept 2 from the same litter a few times. It is twice the work but did fine for me. It would not be for some people. I've had years of experience raising and training dogs. I can't decide for you, but I'd go with 1 if I were you and add the other later. To answer the other questions, the Havanese were harder to potty train, all were very devoted to my husband and me and I do crate together. All my pairs were same sex.

First let me say I'm no expert. I've had my two boy littermates for one week now. That said, it has been Wonderful. They play wild with each other but they settle down just fine. I can tell they think I'm just great. They want to interact with them throughout the day, and the first thing they want to do when they get up in the morning is cover my face with kisses. I get on the floor and play with both of them and they play with me great. I think the potty training is going well, given that they are 9 weeks old and they have only been with me 7 days. I keep them in my laundry room during the day and I come home at lunch and check on them, let them out etc. They will both pee on the potty patch, and one prefers to poo outside but he started going to the sliding glass door when he needs to go out. I recorded them one afternoon on the webcam while I was gone so I could see if everyone was ok. They were! I will do that periodically to make sure all is well when I am away. I crate them at night in the same crate. I had a lot of knowledgeable people warn me against getting two at once and while I appreciated the advice, my breeder as well as I thought that for me and my circumstances, it would be just fine. I felt really strongly about it, and am so glad I just went with my gut feeling. But I'm sure it's an individual decision and success depends on a lot of different factors.

It really seems as if it would be good, cause they always have a playmate. I would think the potty training wouldnt be so bad, you just do two instead of one. It seems they would run the energy off from each other and settle in then.

Ruthi, one of the things that was keeping me from getting a new dog was that I am single and I work during the day and I was really hesitant about leaving a dog here for long periods alone. My last dog didn't like other dogs so it worked out great, but that was a unique situation. So that was one reason for getting two - and frankly I wasn't too excited about the thought of getting one puppy, fully potty training it, and then starting all over with a puppy that I added later. It wasn't really a deciding factor, but it is a nice thought that hopefully the potty training will be finished about the same time.
And yes, they exercise each other so much better than I could exercise them. Especially now - I am not walking them because a) they are not fully vaccinated and b) they don't know how to walk on a leash yet! They definitely settle down, in fact I usually have to fish both of them out from beneath my chair when I am ready to go to bed. Have a great day!
