Smile What shots will my puppy need?

Hello everyone! I am taking home a havanese puppy at the end of this month and I'm sooo excited I just have a few questions about socialization and shots. Roscoe will be eight weeks old when he comes home and will have his first set of shots. Is it gonna be ok to socialize him with people? And will it be ok if I take him outside to potty? Im worried he will get sick. I'm confused because they say that you're not suppose to take a puppy outside if he doesn't have all his shots, but then some people say to socialize as early as possible? And also what are the names of the shots that he will need? Thank you so much!!!

You will get conflicting opinions on socializing with DOGS, but CERTAINLY he can safely socialize with PEOPLE at that age. Socialization is REALLY important, and as long as you make sure that the dogs he meets are well mannered and properly immunized, the dangers are minimal. Puppy Kindergarten can start right away too. You want to keep him away from dog parks, off the floor of pet stores and other public places.

Here is the vaccine protocol many if not most of us use. This is for vaccine sensitive breeds, which includes Havanese.

Thank you so much! So it will be safe to take him to the pet store as long as I carry him?

you might want to invest in a carrier of some sort. Outward Hound has a great one!
This way you can take your puppy everywhere with you, socialize and not worry about him getting sick or anything!!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!!

idk about the pet store unless you keep him in a shoulder bag or carry him the whole time, the floors can be pretty nasty there with dogs marking and even outside..might be too much exposure for a puppy if he/she got his paws on the grime.
