Hairy paws

Benny is the hairiest little thing on earth! He has not been groomed yet, I am still able to bathe and brush him at this point... my question is, what's with all the hair on the BOTTOM of his paws? When he is groomed, will this hair be cut out?

That is the hair that needs to be trimmed the most often, especially if you have hardwood floors. I use little curved scissors and trim Jack's paws every other week. There are some videos on how to do it but it is Monday and I haven't had caffeine yet. I'll look for the links later.

They are hairy little beasts, aren't they?

TTFN,
Pam

You will have to keep them trimmed or he will slide all over the place.

Thats funny, but I bet you have more twigs and things. We have to vacume every day with four dogs playing in the dirt. You can use a bikini trimmer for the paws its fast and easy! If you start him off young he will get used to it.

Oreo has gum stuck in the hairy parts of his little paw once.

Argh...what a mess to get rid of. It was stuck in there pretty good.

When his paws need trimming (we also have wood floors), Lucky will disappear under a dresser sliding in to retrieve a ball. Sort of funny and he's become careful, but it's easy even to stop in at a groomer for just the bottom of the feet (and a sanitary cut and nail trim) if you're squeamish about doing it yourself. Just be really careful to indicate the bottom of the feet or they'll trim the whole foot and round off the edges so it looks like the dog is wearing mittens (finally growing out). Good luck with Benny. Lucky is about 15 pounds at 5 months and headed for the big crowd with your guy.
