Maggie doing well but a few questions

Maggie will be 5 months next week. I know I'm her mom but she's so smart. Since this picture, I've trained her not to eat paper....at least when I can see her.

Began crating her overnight in the bedroom this week. She holds it for 5 plus hours and then goes to her wee wee pad by the back door in the morning. She seems more tired than normal in the morning. I don't know if this has to do with training her to hold it or something else.

She heels on and off leash chases balls and brings them back....except when she gets distracted.

I still haven't been able to get her to eat at once....she sort of gradually wakes up and gradually eats. Taking it away doesn't seem to make a difference, at least not yet.

Any suggestions about car sickness? Also a question about potty training....can she be trained to go inside as well as outside. I'd like the luxury of both but have been advised that it is one or the other or else there will be accidents.

Thanks for all the messages and feedback.

Trained not to eat paper! The paper thing and the RLH's are the most fascinating things about owning a Hav!

Mine out grew the car sickness thing.

Can't help you with the picky eating... Kodi has always eaten relatively well. When he didn't finish his food in 5 minutes, I took it away, and he didn't get anything until his next scheduled meal. He learned ro eat when it was served!

Kodi didn't have a BIG problem with car sickness, though he clearly got a little queazy (drooling and whining) in the beginning. I just made sure to take him on LOTS of short car trips, to as amny fun destinations as possible. He's a great traveller now... We travelled 3,000 miles with him on vacation last fall!

Yes, they definitely CAN learn to use both an indoor potty option and go outdoors too. Kodi would usually rather go outside, but if the weather is bad, or we're not around, he uses his litter box. I suspect that the litter box actually PREVENTS accidents, as long as the dog understands clearly that the box (or pad, or whatever method you use!) is the only acceptable indoor alternative.

Hi, I taught both of mine to go outside and inside. I use a mat I bought at Home depot and put the rubber side up because the piddle pads leek threw. It also works good if they accidently miss the pad. Zoey out grew the car sickness but if she has a full tummie and I'm driving around curves she will sometimes get sick. Like twice in a year. My two have always been slow eaters so I just let them eat when they want. By the end of the day they finish their daily amount. Neither of them are over weight and it hasn't been a problem with the timing for potty.
