11 puppies,7 weeks, loose 6 hours no accidents

Our best friends Son has a wedding here this weekend. It's about as large a shindig as these things get. Last night was a big dinner party for the few hundred guests that have come from all over. We needed to get there before 6 and figured we would be lucky to get back by midnight.

We fed all the dogs and puppies before we left, but didn't want to put the puppies in their sleeping pens because they would have to spend all night in them when we got back as well.

This was as long as they had been without some supervision so far. They have about a 10 x 12 play area with two litter boxes and two Rascal boxes with grate over piddle pad on one wall. I suggested we put another couple of boxes on the opposite wall, but Pam said she didn't want to do that so they would have to go in one direction. So long story shortened, they were left loose in the play area for over 6 hours with no supervision, and boxes on one wall.

With multiple puppies, the cause of accidents at this age is a traffic jam in front of a box one wants to get into. With 11 puppies from 2 litters, a day and a half apart in age, there is almost always going to be some sort of a traffic jam.

When we got home a little past midnight, the floor was clean and dry. I thought it was a big deal and was really proud of them. Pam didn't think it was such a big deal.

There is a saying that any puppy should meet a hundred people before they are 8 weeks old. That's usually an impossible task for us since we live so far out in the country. There will be probably a couple times as many people as that today coming through to see these guys.

You and Pam did a wonderful job with these pups. Whoever gets them is very lucky.

I'd be proud of them too, but considering how well they were doing at, what? Five weeks when we say them? I'm not all that surprised! Good puppies!!!
