One Giant Snowball

Hey everyone,
Winter has officially started in Northern Alberta, 1.5 feet of snow in three days, that being said this is Zoey's first experience with snow I thought it might be difficult for her to adjust but it hasnt' been too bad at all, she just sniffs longer to find a place to do her buisness, but loves being outdoors still. The problem we seem to be having is she loves the snow so much she jumps around in it and plays, sticks her face in it and eats it etc, but when she is ready to come inside she has snow stuck everywhere on her and it clumps and forms ice balls almost which do NOT wipe off with the towel, we've had to put her in a warm bath or blow dry the ice away or she tries to pull the clumps off herself and is pulling at her hair. This clearly takes a lot of time and she's going out 6-7 times a day on average. We don't use salt or anything like that to melt the snow so her paws are holding up well if we dry them off, but I'm just wondering what I can do to help decrease the ice clumps, usually the snow up here is very dry but right now there is still humidity in the air which is making it very wet currently, I was thinking about a coat/snow suit, but everything I've looked at has the legs uncovered which the ice clumps will just stick there, any advice would be greatly appreciated or proper winter attire for pups would be great, zoey is almost 5 months old, also I'm thinking of getting her trimmed up a little so her hair isn't that long, she hasn't been groomed yet would that help??

Ugh, snow already? There are some threads on snowsuits from last year. You can do a search and it will bring up the old threads. There are some nice ones out there that cover the legs.

These snowsuits are great if you can get the right fit.

I got the one below at Petsmart. They have it as a rain suit but it is quilted and warm. I put snaps on it and also had the ribbed ankle fabric altered a bit. I like the Hurtta one better, but it didn't fit my guys.

Yeah, lots of snow here too already. I say, BOOOO, but Brody is really liking it - he sticks his whole head in the snow. Last year he wasn't too impressed, but this year he is loving it. When we got to work today, one of the guys was shoveling out the doorway, and he threw a shovel full of snow right on Brody. Brody loved it, kept running back for more! Crazy dog!

No snow in Vancouver hehehe..might not get snow at all again this year :P

I miss Toronto snow when I lived there. When I moved to Vancouver, if there was even a light dusting of it, I'd be all dressed up with shovel in hand and say 'Honey, I'm going to shovel snow". hehe
