UPDATE: Here's a video of the boys playing this morning. Unfortunately, it's on a dark blanket so it's still pretty hard to see Pepper lol. But as you can see, Cey is extremely gentle with him, but is enjoying playing with him. Cey reminds me of a seal or sea lion, you know they way they roll around with their mouths open when playing but don't really bite? Haha!
I've tried and tried to get good pictures of Pepper but hardly any of them turn out! I need to try my daughter's good camera. Anyway, here's a short video of him playing with my daughter. Ceylon of course sees that I am taping him and has to come be a part of it haha.
Cey is adjusting really well. The first night we had Pepper, Cey ended up literally running over him a couple of times, not intentionally, and despite the fact that we were right there watching them. So then for the rest of the night, the puppy yelped like he was being killed every time Cey came within a few feet of him! I have to give Cey a lot of credit, especially given how he can be with other dogs (over excited) - he respectfully kept his distance after that. The next day, Cey wanted nothing to do with the puppy. If the puppy came near him, Cey would get up and move - if the puppy kept bothering him, Cey would growl (but never actually nipped or anything). We kept a very close eye on them at all times of course, and would move/distract Pepper if he was bugging Cey. By Saturday and Sunday, Cey was back to being a little interested in Pepper again, and even played a little bit with him, but very very gently. This morning, they were playing chase briefly in the house and Cey was being so careful he never even touched Pepper, just enticed him to play and then they would chase each other, with Cey being very careful every time Pepper got close. For the most part, Cey still gets up and moves if Pepper gets close but I have the feeling that that will diminish over time as Pepper grows and Cey is more able to play with him/be physically close to him without fear of hurting him. Also, it may be wishful thinking but Cey seems a lot calmer in general, just having the additional dog energy around the house! (Or maybe it's just the difference between Pepper's puppy energy and Cey's adult energy haha!)
