Oh my goodness! Tux is so adorable, and I don't think we could have asked for anymore in a puppy. As soon as we walked in the door of the breeder's home, he raced up to us and brought us his squeaky toy. He chased the kids all around and was as happy in our arms as anywhere else.
The 2 hour and 15 minute ride home was a dream. He whined for just a few minutes, then he settled in and went to sleep in my arms. He woke up about 40 minutes later, and went potty as soon as we let him out of the car. He played quietly in my arms for the rest of the ride home.
As soon as we got home, we gave him his treat-dispensing toy with his food in it and a bowl of water. He ate some and drank some, then promptly peed in his ex pen. But hey...what can you expect?
We took him straight out with no success, then we crated him while we ate dinner. (He already likes his crate and settles down immediately in it. Yay!)
After he slept for about an hour in his crate, I took him outside, and he went right away.
We praised him like he was the king of the world, then came back in for some play time. It's been about an hour since he last went potty, so I just took him out to try again to no avail. He's in his pen for another 10 minutes until we go out to try again.
So far, so good!
Edited to add: Actually, I was just reminded of something that we'll definitely need to work on as we went outside. He does *NOT* like his collar, nor his leash. That will take a bit of practice and getting used to.
