Final Neurotic New Mom Post - Promise!

Tux ate three times today: twice from a food dispensing toy and once from his bowl. He got a little less than 1/2 c. of Purina Puppy Chow (the food his breeder had him on) total from all three feedings. He was given access to water all day long and drank about 1/2 c. total.

He pooped once this morning, and has peed several times throughout the day.

Does this sound about right for a 3 lb., 8 week old puppy?

Edited to Add his Sleeping Pattern:

Woke at 4:30 a.m. to potty.
Went back to sleep around 4:50 a.m.
Woke again at 6:30 a.m. to potty and eat breakfast.
Was awake the rest of the morning until 12:45. Took about an hour and fifteen minute nap.
Awake the rest of the afternoon and evening until he crashed at 8:30 p.m., and he's been sleeping since except for about five minutes around 10:15 when he woke to go potty.

Does that sound about right?

One suggestion I have is to check out www.dogfoodadvisor.com. A few weeks from now, when he is all settled in, please consider gradually changing his food. Purina Puppy Chow is a corn based food. Other than that, his potty habits seem OK.

Thanks for the link, Rita! I will check that out tonight. I would like to get him off of Purina Puppy Chow as soon as possible, but I don't want to change anything until I'm a little more educated.

Tammy, Tux came from a reputable, but new, breeder. Tux's litter is just the second one from this breeder's dam and sire. I checked references with the dam's breeder, as well as the buyers of the first litter. They all had excellent reviews. I was nervous about taking him so early, but he's really doing amazing.

Both dam and sire are fully-licensed with the AKC, and Tux is eligible for limited registration. (His paperwork was mailed out today.)

Tux had his first vet appointment with our vet today, and everything is checked out great.

HaHa, I agree don't make that promise especially at this point! I think Karen said it all on a post somewhere, patience with the pup and yourself will be the best gift for you both!
