Dog Food/Feeding Advice

Ever since Tux came home, he's been eating alright, but not like I would normally expect a puppy to eat. He would take a bite, then sniff a bit, then jump back, then take another bite, and the whole deal would start over again. He'd do this for five or six bites, then be finished with it.

Well, his breeder had started him on Purina Puppy Chow. (I still can't figure out why this was her food of choice.) I was planning to transition him to a different food in a couple of weeks, after he'd gotten settled in to the family. However, for some reason today I just felt like I should go ahead and start the transition.

I did my research and decided to start Tux on Nutro Ultra Small Breed Puppy (dry). I also bought two tins of wet food for special treats. I did a mix of about 1 part Nutro to 3 parts Purina for his lunch today, and darned if that silly boy didn't pick every single piece of the Nutro out of that bowl and shun the entirety of the Purina.

I presented the 1:4 mix again for dinner, and he, again, picked out the Nutro and left the Purina.

It's only been about 12 hours since his lunch with the new food, but his digestive system seems to be doing alright. Do you think it'd be okay to speed up the transition, since he seems bent on going cold-turkey? I was thinking a 1:3 mix for tomorrow, then 1:2 mix on Thursday, then 2:1 mix on Friday, then full Nutro on Saturday. What are your thoughts about how that might or might not work out?

I know that Kodi has always needed VERY slow transitions between foods to prevent poopy butt. OTOH, if he absolutely refuses to eat the old food, I don't know what your options are!

UPS I didn't read your post right sorry. I switch up faster than some people like yesterday I had just ran out and only had free samples and they got a days worth of three different kind's and they did fine. I have only had problems with certain foods that have more protein like a very good food called Acanna. When they were little like yours I also switched faster too.
