Need the forum's advice

This is not a Havanese question, but it came to me cause I will always try to help when a dog is involved.

I'll try to make this as short as possible. Please don't go OMG a hundred times as I have, I just am looking for a way to maybe help the puppie.

Last week and a young mother and her mother in law each bought a Yorkie pup. With in a week the mother-in laws pup died.

Young mother thinking she was doing a good thing went to a pet store (omg) and bought an expensive Yorkie pup to give to mother in law. Mother in law doen't want it.
Pet store wont take it back. Young nother who should have never ad a pup this small with her small children in the first place, now realizes that two would not be good for her.

Got ideas for what to do with the new pet store pup.

Sorry forum buddies. This only belongs here in that it could be a Havanese, but it isn't.

I've worried about this one all night.

I thought most stores had a 48 hr, guarantee.......they won't take it back if she raises a stink?

She can advertise for a home. I don't know if it exists, but I would expect that there is a Yorkie rescue who will screen for a good home and match the pup with someone who has been waiting for a puppy.

There must be a Yorkie rescue group, so I think that would be my first call.

I agree with contacted a "Yorkie" rescue group, if possible.

Otherwise, she may need to pursue finding a new forever home for the pup. Maybe she could even contact a local Yorkie breeder and see if they have any suggestions on how to help? Or look for a Yorkie "forum" or Yahoo list? They might have suggestions.

Yes, there is a Yorkie Rescue

Wow, I hope this works. I have been reading everything for a couple of weeks, but was a little too shy to introduce myself. My daughter started me on this seach several months ago. She is looking for a Yorkie. We learned about puppy mills, and shipping problems, etc. She then contacted Yorkie Rescue and is on their list to have an in-home visit. Their organization seems to run similar to Havanese Rescue. I think I may be able to find a phone number in my notes. How old is this little one.

Yup, I wanted to say 'omg' a few times! sigh........ I wish people would stop buying from pet stores!

The poor little guy... I agree with all the advice so far. Hope things work out in the end! Keep us posted, o.k.?

BTW - welcome to the forum, Havahope!! So glad you decided to post and introduce yourself. NO reason to be shy around here!

Hi Havahope

It's really funny what gts you on the forum, but you'll be really glad you are here.

This is the most generous of spirit, supportive group of people I have ever been involved with.

I've passed on the rescue info, and they are now looking for local breeders to see if the breeders can offer some insight.

I've also suggested that they go back to the store and try to get tough although I think that isn't going to work as the store says you might buy a healthy pup and bring back a sick one. The store can't take that risk.

Thanks everyone. And Hava, stay on the forum, you'll make friends.
