Apprentice Mechanic

Some of you might recall me talking about training Doug to not enter the kitchen, not walk down the hall way, go to his bed when people come over to control excitment (and avoid excited wees). We have been quite lucky with this training. Doug is such a good little guy and just does as he is told (usually).

Today he was 'supervising' as my husband was working on the car. DH set up a towel for him so he could 'hang out' with him. He just sat and watched the whole time.

They are just such ppl dogs. He sulks if he thinks he is missing out on anything so he is quite satisfied with this sort of set up lol. Like if I take out the rubbish Doug loves to come with me! He is really good out the front and just follows me to the bin and back. Its good that he isn't the 'run away' kind when he gets the chance.

Doug is so sweet and patient. It is great that he is not the run away type.

I just got a little guy we named Lucky and so far he sure sticks around too. Our last hav Tucker was not so reliable. I am really going to work with Lucky on that but I think it may depend on the dog's personality.

Yeah I think it's somewhat a personality thing. I noticed on one of the threads the other day someone with multiple havs has one that will always make a b line whilst the others stay put.

Yes such a sweetie they love to be where the action is. A tiny word of caution, you may be the lucky owner whose dog really sticks around but be ready for a possible change in behavior as they get a little older and become more independent. However they really are a breed that prefers to keep their owners in sight, unlike many of the sporting/hound breeds who have other important things on their minds (noses).
