Ex Pen

We are ready for an ex pen which we will use in the kitchen. Sofie is becoming more dependable every day with her bladder control and we are thinking we might stretch out time away from home TOGETHER on occasion and want to give her more space than her crate. Here is my delimma, we have laminate flooring (less than a year old) and if she should have an accident (pee), I am concerned that it may seep in between sheets of laminate, which would not be a good thing. Has anyone else had this concern, and what was your workable solution? I was thinking about about a heavy(like sometimes are used on top of rugs in bad weather) plastic underneath, at least while we are gone.

We first used marine vinyl, but found that, even with it flat to the floor, Kodi was able to hook his teeth into it, and pull it up, making a mess of his pen. Then we went to Home Depot and got a remnant of vinyl flooring. This was PERFECT! It's MUCH stiffer than the marine vinyl, but still easy to carry around, but impossible for the dog to move, as long as the edges are outside the pen. It also cleans up just like a vinyl kitchen floor!!! Just a damp mop!

I use two home depot Large out door rug mats that have a rubber sided underneath. I put the rug side down and have the rubber up. Its similar to rubber mating used for gym exercise floors. I like it because it stays in place better than vinyl flooring. Also the texture isn't slippery for the puppy. The coast for 2 is about $39.00

I used patio deck vinyl, not the smooth kind but one with texture. Sort of like Duradek.

Do not use that. The texture makes it hard to wipe up poop cause the poop gets into the texture bumps.

We went to Home Depot, in the panel area and got a sheet of shower wall panel. It worked good and I think it was only about $20. Like Karen said, make sure the edges of whatever you use are outside the ex-pen.
