From Puppy to Adult

I understand that puppies and their food requirements are quite different from adult dogs and the switch from puppy food (kibble) to adult is recommended by 1 year of age. Is it ever appropriate to make the switch before a year?

Our vet and breeder told us anywhere from 6-8 months is fine. I believe some of the recommendation comes from your puppy's size (was your puppy the runt or regular size, the biggest, etc.) and how they have been growing so far. I would check with your vet for a specific recommendation.

Puppy food is really a marketing gimmick. A high quality food for All Life Stages will serve your puppy well.

Well, I've been hoodwinked!! I always thought the puppy formulas had more calories for the energy they use up. Who knew?

You and me both! And all of these years of raising puppies, too. But I imagine the quality of dog food was not up to today's standards either. Yes, who knew?
