So Far So Good with Ivy!

Things are really going great with Ivy. She is such a sweet and smart girl! At night she sleeps in her crate in my room. She goes 2-3 hrs before waking and needing to go out to pee. Luckily she does her business quickly and only cries for 5-10 minutes before settling back to sleep.

Her toilet training could not be going better. She has not messed on the floor even once! I watch her very closely and as soon s she starts sniffing around or wandering off I take her outside to pee. About 50% of the time she will even head to the patio door when she needs to go.

While I'm at work for 3.5 hrs in the morning Ivy is in her xpen. She cries when I leave but is always waiting quietly, usually watching tv, when I get back. She has had 1 pee on the absorbent pad each time I get back.

The only issue we are having is eating. She is not as interested in her food as I think she should be. She wouldn't eat the food the breeder was using so I bought Acana. I put a bit of can food on top of the kibble. She will usually eat the can stuff and a bit of kibble. I'm not stressing about it. The first time I gave her the Acana with the can food she ate it up so now I am going to offer it to her and it she eats it great but if not I'll take it away and try again at lunch and then dinner. I'm going to assume dogs are like kids and they wont' starve themselves!

Wow! Sounds like you're doing everything right! Glad to hear she is doing so well. You are doing the feeding correctly. She will eat when she is hungry. My Bella is like that and usually only eats late at night. Just stick with the Acana don't keep trying new stuff or she will keep doing this. Good luck!

Sounds great! Her appetite might suddenly start picking up on its own and as she settles in. I was surprised how uninterested Zelda seemed at first but it didn't last. She was eating like a pro in no time.

It sounds like you and Ivy are doing great. I like that she's able to handle short periods alone, I think that's important. Timmy watches TV too, I usually leave MSNBC on so he can catch up on the news. I agree with you that puppies are a lot like kids, they won't starve. If you're concerned you can always call your vet and ask for a weigh in, I'm sure they won't even charge you for it, I know mine wouldn't.
