Bells-Where to buy?

I think Ivy is ready to start bell training. When she needs to go out she usually goes and sits at the patio door, which is behind the couch. It would be nice if she would ring a bell so we know if she needs to go out or just hanging out back there.

I'm stumped about that kind of bell and where to get one. I've bought a 3M hook to hang it from but I need some help with the bell.

Thanks!

Thanks for the links! I actually never occurred to me to buy them. I was just going to make them. I think I probably will. I think I'll just get me some bulk large jingle bells from Walmart and string them on a ring and attach some ribbon or string or even a cheap, short nylon leash. I don't feel the need for them to be overly pretty or cute, just functional.

Be careful of "jingle bell" type bells, A dog can get a nail caught in the slits and get badly hurt.

Make your own, hang it on lower part of door frame. Use a cow bell, several to make the rings loud.

Craft stores sell the jingle bells. I see you're in Canada so I can't recommend a specific one. With Christmas around the corner, the selection has been better here. Still, most bells are not that loud. The best I've found, and closest to the louder ring of store bought poochie bells, is 1-1/4" inch (32 mm) bells in a 4-pack for $4 at Michaels (less with coupon). Plenty of DIY tutorials on the web for doggie bells. Good luck!

I have a small cow bell affixed to the bottom of the frame around the back door and when Bailey hit it with his paw, it was really loud. There's no chance you'd miss it when in another room. Unfortunately, however, Tyler never picked up the concept of using a bell. Perhaps it was because whenever Bailey rang it, Tyler would run to the door and follow him out. No need to exert himself when it was being done for him.

I have some Christmas Bells on a Strap that are attached to the bottom part of the door. They are loud enough. They are the BIG jingle bells, not the small ones. They would be easy to make.

confession... I got Tillie's 'bell' at the Dollar store... lol it was part of a christmas 'swath' and I took it apart and used the bell... we've had it up for 3 yrs. lol
It is a "cow bell" type design as opposed to a "jingle bell" type...
