Bonding concern

Maverick is doing great and has become my little shadow in just 3 days. My concern is that he seems to have little interest in my husband. If we are together then Mav pretty much ignores him or seems a little afraid of him. His breeder had a female only household so I'm not sure if he is afraid of men. I keep telling my husband that he just needs more time with him, but he has really tried to bond. Any suggestions on what he or I can do to help them bond? I'm going away for 2 days in a few weeks for work and I really hope they bond by then! Any help would be appreciated!

I would have your husband do the routine care exclusively. Filling his food bowl, filling and refilled his water bowl, training, giving treats etc. Let your pup know that all the good things in his life also come from your husband.

I was the one at home with Julie all day and one thing we did to build up the bond with my husband was to make him the "lead trainer" in puppy k'garten. He would do training 'play' every night after dinner. Naturally, plenty of treats were involved. It really helped build their connection and bond them.

If you are the one home all day Maverick is bound to bond with you sooner. I am the one home with Tim and he is such a momma's boy but I will say he loves my husband too. I think in time as Maverick gets older he will bond with your husband, right now the little guy is wanting immediate satisfaction of calming his fears, being fed and cuddling (which is you) as he gets older he'll realize dad is a great person to play fetch with, do all the bad things with that mom won't let me as well as being silly. Don't worry as Maverick gets older he will establish a special relationship with your hubby, he's still such a little guy. As much as Tim loves me he waits at the door for my husband to come home from work every night so just give it some time but have your husband continue to play and do some of the daily tasks too.
