Back to Professional Training

We just contacted the trainer who worked with us before.

Gibbs doesn't listen to us as well as he use to. Getting him to come inside after playing or potty is becoming difficult.

"Gibbs Come", which worked so well a few months ago, doesn't seem to work anymore. Hopefully it's not "poisoned".

He is now 7 1/2 months old.

She's coming back tomorrow to work with us.

Wish us luck.

John

Gibbs is beginning to go through adolescence which is almost as annoying in dogs as in humans though not quite! Leo is 8.5 months and we have been in ongoing, continuous training classes which helps to motivate me to continuing working with him and keeps him in training mode! Having to be accountable to a trainer should help keep everyone on track!

Charlie too. We have been going to training classes consistently and when he's "in the mode" at class he's brilliant. But when it's just him and me there's a definite rebellious streak coming in.

We're back in classes too. The summer was impossible because of house moves, then it took a while to find a new trainer. It seems like every little undesirable habit that we neglected to correct is on the agenda. Polite greetings and "off" are going well but loose leash walking is a laugh. I always said I liked Julie's independent streak. What was I thinking? Is Gibbs fully recovered from his surgeries?

John and Dana,
Thank you for posting about Gibbs not listening to "come". Maggie is going through this, too. Shes 21 weeks old and started ignoring us last week. Guess adolescence started early. It's only to the "come" command when she's outside that she ignores and wants to stay longer playing. We thought it was the fall leaves, grass, nicer weather. She loves them all.
Please keep us updated on Gibbs progress.
Good luck!
Jeanne

OMG! Shouldn't one know when she is wearing an invisibility cloak! That is the only possible explanation for the complete inattention Leo paid me in class tonight!!! Oh yeah, puppy adolescence! What FUN!!!

Emmie and I are back in classes this Fall after taking the summer off. We're taking a Tricks class and Beginning Competition Obedience. And I may enter us in a Rally trial this winter too. -Jeanne-

Yes. He's having his stitches removed today.
