Oy am I in trouble

Well Bailey learned very quickly how to navigate the stairs (going up) and has been a champ at it for the past couple of days. Just now I let everyone out (not realizing he had already done everything he had to do in the kitchen (nowhere near the paper) and there was Mr. Bailey on the third step (of five), surveying the landscape before taking a flying leap off and onto the ground. He made a perfect four point landing and merrily went on his way. I, on the other hand, almost had a heart attack. The question is, "will I survive his puppyhood?"

Oh Geri -it's much harder than you remember from the first time isn't it? I remember going through total Post-Pupdom depression when Cash first came...LOL...My husband and I had the only fight we have ever had over it, I wanted to send Cash back and he said "he is not a pair of shoes you can return, just because you changed your mind" I was mortally wounded by that. But it got better in a week and even better in two. By three he could pee and poo anywhere, I was still smitten. As they say... this too will pass. So enjoy the cuteness.

Hang in there, Geri! Bailey is adorable! I also found it is harder with the second - especially the potty training. But I absolutely love having TWO. I think some of the problems I had with the second were because I expected him to be like the first, and he wasn't. He is different, with different strengths and weaknesses. Once I could accept that, things got easier!

BTW, I am loving being able to see more of Milo through the recent photos and videos. I am in love with that boy of yours!

Thanks, and I'm not complaining. I'm a "till death do us part" kinda gal, but he's scaring me. I'm afraid he'll kill himself, or that Milo will in their innocent? play. As for the pee and poop, it is what it is. It's just that for a 4.8 lb. puppy he is a prodigious peeing machine. It's a good thing I bought an extra Wet Jet mop. One for downstairs and one for up. I spend a lot of time mopping the floor. Good thing I have him confined to the kitchen during the day.

Geri, I feel your pain. Bailey sounds like he's a very active guy...Cricket is the same way. My other dogs were pretty mellow from the get-go, but Cricket is constantly running, jumping, nipping or otherwise dead asleep. The first time she jumped off of the couch, I nearly had a stroke. My tzus STILL don't jump down from anything, but Ms. Cricket is fearless!

Geri, hang in there, you'll survive it and so will he! I was ready to send Pablo back after 2 days, because he was a dripping nightmare and didn't lay down/nap for one second cause he was so busy pulling on stuff or sticking his head/body into places I didn't even know existed. But once he was 11 weeks old, his bladder function improved immensely. We went from constant dripping to peeing every 15 min. Then it went to every 25, 35, 60, etc. This taught me a big lesson: next time either get a puppy at >10 weeks OR if you get a 9 week old, don't stress. My breeder had never given a puppy away at this young age (he was 2 days shy of 9 weeks), but she had never had a bugging client like me either, LOL.

Funny Maryam, Bailey was exactly that age too when I got him. I wouldn't trade these days for anything. Because I got Milo so much older, it's cute watching what they do at this age. There's no doubt he's different than Milo but he seems mellow (when he's not exploring his world and nuts), loving and sweet tempered.

Oh Geri--- He is so cute! Maybe he just needs a smaller containment area? Time---time is on your side---remember that!
