Favorite Toys and treats??

I'm going puppy shopping tomarrow and was wondering if anyone had any favorite "must have's" to suggest?
I already have a crate, harness and leash so anything else that you think that I might need would be appreciated.

BTW.. are puppy pads really needed if I'm at home with puppy most of the time?
I'm planning on using a combination of crate training and tethering puppy to me when he's out of the crate so he won't be running free.

Save your money!

I bought so much stuff when Riki was a baby. He has the same squeaky toy he had as a puppy. If you don't need pads, don't use them...they look too much like carpet and then they get confused. Riki nor Daisy were chewers so I wasted my time on that stuff. I just bought good food. My dogs don't sleep in dog beds that I bought either.

A good harness and leash, good shampoo and food. They are actually low maintenance other than grooming! At least mine are. My dogs think that they are sort of people...they like to run outside and then hang out with me.

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

Roxie loves toys... I have had people that come over say they've never seen a dog love their toys as much as she does! Her favorites are her "loofah dog" (nice cause they come in different sizes), her pink bone made by nylabone (the harder one made for aggressive chewers!), and this little pink elephant with purple spots that makes a really obnoxious noise as she bites it... she plays with that thing constantly! I buy a lot of toys (probably more for me than her honestly... but, hey, they're cheap and it's fun.)

You also need a brush and comb so you can start getting her used to grooming.

And the puppy treats by Wellness for training are good too.

I use the Bil-Jac liver treats for potty training. All dogs are different. I bought Milo a slew of things to play with and beds to snuggle in. He wasn't interested in any of it. Bailey on the other hand does play with toys and chewies (I love the hard plastic chew that can be put in the freezer for them when they're teething), and he will plop himself into whatever bed is handy in any given room.

Just Milo and me, and . . . Bailey makes three . . . until Ruby said, "hey, what about me?"

Favorite treats - Bailey's K9 Jerky, freeze dried beef liver, Flossies

Favorite toys - Kodi loves these little squeeky balls I get at PetCo.
Shelby loves a plush furry monkey that makes a honking sound instead of a squeak.

Pee Pads - if you only want to have your dog go outside, then don't use them. I use them for when they are going to be home alone and also it is easy when we go on vacation.

I find most of my toy's in the children section of the store. Figured it they are good enough for human's then they are great for my babies. My furbabies love the ball's with the rattles in them.

Flossies for chewing on and Pipsqueeks! Mine love stuffed toys with squeekers the best and tug toys too! Mine aren't really fond of plastic toys at all, EXCEPT treat toys. Get a kong for stuffing with treats! Make sure you have a good pin brush and a greyhound comb and a small face comb. Make sure you have shampoo and conditioner too!

My dogs tend to favor small plush toys as oppose to hard or rubber toys-all 3 of them look at me like I am out of my mind if I put down a plastic squeeky toy. They also really love interactive toys- treatball is a huge hit, hide a squirrel, pipsqueaks have always been a favorite and Dora goes crazy for cat like toys on a string- this one has lasted us the longest too.

One of the best things to do if you have an insane amount of toys. I only put out about 10 a week and I keep bins of them in the other room and the night that I swap them out, the pups feel like they just went shopping. Everyone shoves their face into the toy basket and gets out old favorites

Can I come play at your house Amanda. With the size of the pet edge boxes that were delivered, you won't be needing any more toys for years!

I agree that the really small squeeky plush toys seem to be the most fun. MeMe has a ducky that she puts in her mouth and squeeks constantly.

Another decent treat are the Nature's Balance rolls - the turkey is a nice one and shouldn't cause tummy upsets. You can substitute it for the lunch meal and make it a training session. It does have wheat flour so if there's a chance of an allergy, I'd avoid these.

Thanks for all of the awesome suggestions!
I'm making a list right now.
What kind of shampoo works best for Hav coats?
I'm definately getting pipsqueaks, a loofa dog and a kong w/stuffin.
I'm sure that I'll make several trips to the petstore before our little guy comes home and so we'll be well stocked up by the time that he gets here.
