Sick puppy? :-(

I think we may have a sick puppy. Yesterday he didn't eat his breakfast but drank water, chewed up a Flossie, and ate dinner. Today he didn't eat breakfast, drank very little water all day but ate a little bit of his dinner. He's lethargic, has played for a few very short times but hasn't peed since this morning. He's slept a LOT but seems restless, lots of squirming around. My DH took him out before dinner and said he had a yucky poo that seemed hard but stringy. (From the Flossie?)

He's just not acting like he usually does. Should we be worried? Call the vet tomorrow? We don't know what signs to look for to know if he's sick. He's breaking my heart though! Hope someone can offer some advice.

Thanks!

I would contact the vet if he's acting different and especially if he's not getting properly hydrated. Better be safe than sorry. Meanwhile I'm hoping for a good night with your little fella and that he feels all better in the morning. Let us know.

Poor guy, I hate when one of my boys is not feeling 100%. The flossie could have upset his belly has he had them before?

I am famous for checking temps & hydration when either of my boys are not acting right. If you want to do a quick check that he is not dehydrating push your thumb up against his gumbs, as soon as you remove it the gum will be white where your thumb was and should turn back to red in a matter of seconds. If it takes awhile to go back to red then he is dehydrated and needs to be seen by the vet right away.
Try pushing fluids, give him an ice cube to see if he will lick it.

He did drink some water and he has gone pee, finally! He just seems restless though. Hopefully he'll feel better by tomorrow morning or I'll call the vet. Thanks for the help everyone!

I'd call your vet in the morning. I'm always err on the side of caution. Better safe than sorry, especially if he's been restless and/or lethargic and isn't drinking much water. I hope it's just a passing thing and he's fine after a good night's sleep.

Is it very hot where you are? I know mine don't eat much and sleep more if it is too hot. Call the vet and have the pup checked.

I agree with Susan. I'd rather be safe than sorry too. I don't worry about a one day thing, but if it persists more than 2 days, I would go to the vet.

I agree, I'd have him checked by your vet. Good luck to you and let us know how he is.
