5 weeks to go and need name

Hi,

Well, in about 5 weeks we will be bringing home our new puppy! We decided on a sweet black irish pied boy. My kids just can't wait to bring him home, but due to vacation plans by the time we bring him home he will be around 13 weeks old. I hope that is not too old to bring home a new pup as far as transitions go. After many months of research I am SO glad that the search is finally over. Now the fun part of buying doggie stuff begins! What do I need??? What's a good website for one stop shopping? My poor husband is not going to know what hit him when the credit card bill comes. Oh, and any name suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I tried to upload a picture of little no name pup in the avatar but it said "invalid file". I think the file size was too big so if anyone can walk me through as to how to upload it I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Andmmy

Welcome and congrats on your new puppy! I bought so much stuff from PetEdge.com and thought their prices were great. I did buy several "designer" type toys that were pricey and he destroyed them in no time. We love Nylabones and his Kong too. Have LOTS of stuff to chew so he won't chew your stuff. We would all get so excited when a box of stuff arrived, you'd have thought it was for us.

Welcome to team irish pied I also say pet edge is a great place to get started. If you need something in particular, just search the forum as a lot of shop quite a bit

Hi and welcome!
I brought my Hav puppy home last Saturday and it has been an absolute blast getting to know him and figuring out which toys and treats that he likes the best.
I've been shopping 4 times since he came home and that's not including what I bought before he came.
So far, his favorites are his silky raccoon (made by spot ethical products)
a small knotted rope, flossies, cow hooves, kong squeaker tennis type balls and my cats furry mouse toys.
He has way more toys than that but those are the one's that he uses the most.
He also loves cuddling up in his fleece blanket. He burrows underneath of it when he gets cold..lol
I like http://www.petmountain.com/ for online shopping.
They have great prices and their shipping rates are pretty low.
Congratulations on your new puppy, It's SO worth the wait!

Go to Irish baby names!

There are some very cute names out there.

My daughter's name is Celtic, Alana, which means strong. In Hawaiian, it means awakening.

I love Irish Pieds. My Daisy was supposed to be parti, but I think she is a pied.

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

Hi

Your family must be so excited in the anticipation of the new puppy coming soon. Here is a website that lists Irish puppy names http://www.pet-net.net/pet-names/irish-names.html

There are some really cute ones like CONWAY, GILMORE, KEENAN, MACAULEY and there are a lot more.

Good luck with the little guy!

Funny to read the "gilmore" name suggestion as it is my maiden name!

Our second choice name for Guapo was Riley since he was born on St. Patrick's day! And you better let us know when the new pup is home so we can schedule some puppy playdates! Guapo can't wait!

Thanks for the shopping websites and the name websites. I will check into them. I already told the kids that they can pick out the name but that I have veto power.

When our no name pup comes home Guapo definitely has to visit us, humans too of course. Our pup was born in May so Guapo is only a couple of months older. Do you have Guapo in a crate or an xpen? What do you recommend? Any potty training tips? A potty trained pup makes for a happy family, so I will be reading tons on potty training techniques.

We have Guapo in a pen because we both work basically full-time and want him to have a little space. He has not really had any potty issues. He goes on the pad both in and out of the pen, but sort of prefers to do #2 outside now that he has a choice (and I'm not complaining about that). I think once we realized that less "freedom" (time we could not devote our attention to him to get the "signals") = less accidents, it was smooth sailing. I understand that is not always the case with Havs, but it really helps.
