Safe to take puppy in the pool now?

Hello all!
I just want to say first how much I appreciate how friendly and helpful all of your are, me being new to this forum. It's really much fun talking about our fuzzy little darlings. Anyway, I am wondering how soon I can introduce Pixie to the pool. It's hot as blazes here, and I know Havanese take to the water well-but is it too soon? I don't want to traumatize her and ruin it for later. Of course we would be right there holding her. She's a really small girl, not even 2 pounds and is ten weeks old. Too young-too tiny? Forgive me if this question sounds fundamental-I haven't cared for a dog in 20 years, and even then I think my mom did all for the work. It's a salt water pool vs chlorine, if that makes any difference. (My daughter gets really itchy in heavily chlorinated water-not sure if the dogs have the same issues). Thanks in advance everyone. Sorry if I sound like a clueless doofus!

Hi, My little Oscar is 2 1/2 years and this is the first year he actually wants to get into the pool. We always pick them up and walk around the pool with them in our arms and show them the water with our hands. Emma (4 years) won't go near the pool for fear of getting wet. Shailee (1 year) sits by the edge and watches. Oscar whines to go in on the raft and likes to swim to me. They are all different.
I would take it real slow, don't push it if your pup is scared. I wouldn't try to let her go to swim yet. As far as the salt water, I don't know. We use a chlorine free system called Visions.
I love it here too. This is by far the nicest forum ever!

Scooter goes close to the edge, stretching his back legs as far as he can, sniffs and then goes to lie down in the shade! He doesn't want to get in so we don't push it. Perhaps he'll be interested someday?
It is hot in Tampa, used to live there and have 4 brothers and their families still there. I hate when we talk to them on Thanksgiving and they're swimming in their pool while we're cold here in Atlanta!
Pixie is so cute in that photo! If she does get in the water, take photos and post them so we can all see!

I always get scared when people with LITTLE dogs show them how to like the pool. My friend's small schnauzer liked the pool and one day he drowned because he went in alone and couldn't get out. The steps were too steep. Maybe that was just a weird situation but I always think about it......
