Question treats??

Any good ideas what treats are safe to put inside of kongs for puppies and even older dogs to occupy them. I put puppy biscuits but impossible to get out and if they fall out it doesn't occupy Shadow very long... Any meat ideas?? ..carrots?? and can they eat this at 4 months..?? Don't want to ruin her appetite with too many treats..but feel have to with training... Ideas appreciated !!

Oliver loves baby carrots in his kong. Comet doesn't seem interested in kongs (with or without treats)

Here's some ideas from Kong University:

You can layer little bits of dry treats or kibble and mix it with something sticky, like cream cheese, peanut butter or wet dog food. Freezing the filled kongs makes it last longer.

I was having problems finding something that lasted Todd more than 5 minutes.
I finally tried stuffing his kong with wet dog food and freezing it...it takes him at least 30 minutes to get all of the chunks out and he LOVES it!!
I bought an extra kong and I keep one in the freezer all of the time now.

In the medium sized Kong, I put a single piece of chicken jerky, a Breathies medallion from Dogswell. They are little quarter sized pieces of dehydrated cage free, antibiotic-free chicken that are just bigger in diameter than the hole, and my boys are able to get one piece out after several hours of manipulation (and the chicken jerky probably becoming soggy from their labors!) This has worked fantastically for us, it keeps them very busy and provides a low calorie protein treat as the reward.

I cut up the freeze dried liver treats and stuff the small kong. It doesn't last very long, but they are happy. Kong also sells liver flavored sticks that I stuff in. They stick out a bit at the big end and the dogs will chew on them, then try to get the rest out.

I froze peanut butter in it once and he didn't like it, and it took forever to get it all out. What a mess! I buy Milk-Bone Filet Mignon treats, they're shaped like a steak, and they're a bit soft so you can push it into the Kong. I usually only give the Kong when he's in his crate and I have to leave him for a while. We always have to help him get all of it out but it sure keeps him busy!
