Cleaning supplies safe for puppy

I have had my puppy for two weeks now and it's now time to wash the floors since we are still working on the potty training I just don't know what type of product is safe to use. I was using the Swiffer mop before we got our puppy but it's not safe for dogs so I have no clue what to use. Help!

Hi Satu!

Get one of those floor steamers. They are pretty neat!

sbedal,

I think the swiffer issue is false . . . here is a link to snopes http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp. I do use a Swiffer Wet Jet on my kitchen floor.

That being said when my guys were tiny I used Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface cleaner which I first found in a Babies R Us.

That's very safe. I think the dilution is 1 part bleach, 9 parts water. A vet I used to talk to online that had large dogs said that's all she used. My husband prefers vinegar and water and the smell about drives me nuts for a couple of hours but it does a good job. We also have it in a spray bottle that can be used for a potty pad miss and when they're first learning to use the pads.

I love the Clorox Anywhere cleaner and always use it to clean the sink and counters, especially after Scooter has a bath.

The wood floors are cleaned with vinegar and water. I hate the smell to but since it's non-toxic and it works well we use it.

I have, for many years, always used vinegar to clean the wood floors. I do hate the smell...and so does Cicero. It is suppose to be great to get rid of the odor and keep them from using the same area again. Cicero would RLH when I cleaned a spot he made when he was a baby with straight vinegar - and I think that is why he learned "outside" so soon.

Depending on the type of products your flooring can handle, you have a lot of options. I love using Simple Green for my every day cleaning little spills. It is a gentle cleaner.

(Swiffer isn't harmful to pets. That's a myth that has been debunked.)
