Gracie pics & Tear Stains...

I put some more pictures of Gracie up in the gallery.
You can see how she went from hardly having any tear stains, to having them pretty bad. What am I doing wrong????

Karla,
Welcome! Your Gracie is a beauty. I don't have problems with tear stains with Brady, but he does stain around his mouth this time of year. My breeder thinks it has to do with seasonal allergies. Anyway, did you change Gracie's food when you got her? Is there anything different since you brought her home? Are you giving her different treats than she had before? Any of those things could cause staining.

Well, the food is what the breeder told me to give her (Wellness puppy)...although she accidentally sent her home with Wellness Adult...I got her some treats, but they are the wellness puppy treats.
The breeder told me to keep the eyes dry and the hair short around them...but I can't cut it around her eyes...yikes...

At one point, I tried switching Brady to Wellness Core. He started staining horribly. Maybe it is the treats or the food. It can't hurt to try to change it. I only use a few treats. I mainly use Charlie Bears, Grandma Lucie's meatballs, and homemade chicken jerkey. I don't know if this could solve you problem, but it may be worth a try. I found that dark colored food or treats made Brady stain. He started getting tear staining and also mouth and foot staining when I had him on the Core. As soon as I switched him back to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, it went away. I know how frustrating it is. We have these beautiful babies and you hate to see the stains on them. I did buy Angel Eyes at one point, but never did have to use it. It is an antibiotic and some people swear by it, others will not use it because it is an antibiotic. My breeder thinks it is okay to use for a short period of time to eliminate the staining, but says to use less than the recommended dosage.
