Maybe he likes being in a box that is not closed in. Do you have a dog bed in his pen?
My Hav's liked to burrow in their beds with their toys..

Try the Petco litter. It may or may not make a difference. We use litter too for puppies and sometimes there is one that likes to lay in it but they don't keep doing it. We like the Petco litter best anyway as it doesn't have that smell that the Purina litter has.

I also second the idea to give him another option for a place to lie down other than in his crate.

Pam makes these beds that she guarantees that all Havanese and other small dogs will love. They are made to last and can be thrown in the washer and dryer. The one the puppy is in is 6 or 7 years old and has been washed MANY times. email us and if we owe anything for advertising Melissa, just let us know. She has perfected the design over several years.

Is he using the litter to potty in yet? A lot of times, they just have to learn what it is for and then they won't sleep where they potty.

BTW, he has an adorable face
