Question Puppy food,puppy food?Which do I get??

I have literally come to my wits end. I have done so much research on this topic and still have not come up with a brand that I am totally happy with it.Iknow all dogs are different and some may like some brands where others will turn their noses up at!
So I am again asking for help. Please tell me what you recommend. The cost is the only thing that is not an issue, and the only thing that is an issue is that I would prefer a dry food as opposed to canned.
Everywhere I go and anyone I ask has different opinions that I really am at a loss.As of Wed,Duncan will be off his special diet of chicken rice and I will be introducing puppy food. Please help shed some light on this. There are too many choices out there and I am too confused.
Sorry to be such a pain!

Mine really like Royal Canin, but I switched them to Blue Buffalo, because it was rated better. My daughter feeds her dogs Wellness, and they love it, but mine would not eat it. It can really drive you crazy, especially because of the recalls.

Hi Dot,
I thought the ratings website you posted was really helpful. I think all the brands listed with 6 *'s have a puppy formula too. Or you could go with Evo puppy if you want to be sure to avoid rice protein and poison additives.

HI DOT THERE IS ALOT OF GOOD BRANDS OF KIBBLE OUT THERE. HONESTLY YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO GO THROUGH SEVERAL BRANDS TO GET TO THE RIGHT KIBBLE FOR YOU. I CAN TELL YOU MY HAV DID GOOD ON INNOVA AND I JUST RECENTLY PUT HIM ON INNOVA EVO SO FAR SO GOOD. I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON HOW WELL THE EVO WORKS.

I'm with 'showdown' about Innova. Ricky never had a problem with that. I'm using mostly Fromm's now for both boys and am finishing up some Natural Balance Ultra Premium. Again, no problems. I dont' have fussy Havs!

Innova Puppy and Adult Food and Innova Evo (the no grain variety) are both great foods to feed you puppy. A word of caution, as you switch from chicken and rice to kibble, you need to slowly add kibble and reduce chicken and rice. Two reasons for this: one in order not to cause an upset stomach and two, after chicken and rice your puppy may not want to touch dry kibble.

When you go into holistic foods like Innova, Evo, Wellness, etc. they are all good foods and just a matter of preference. If you go with the foods that contain grains, my rule of thumb is that I don't use any food that has corn as one of the top 5 ingrediets and I don't like it when chicken fat is one of the top 5 either.

Best of luck,

-Julia

Julia, thanks so much for the heads up.I remember when we first got him,he was on Biljac and he went back and forth and looked like he was either shy or not enjoying it all. When we switched to chicken/rice he dove right in and he didn't leave the bowl till it was lickety clean.
I just hope all goes well with this!!THanks again!!
