How much play?

How long should play sessions last? Right now I try to give Fitz 30 mins-one hour of vigorous play when he's up, so that he'll [hopefully] be a bit calmer when I put him in his pen. Is that enough? Too much?

I know when I first got Charley I wanted to play with him all the time - but it's important to allow puppy time to just hang out. Whether he just amuses himself or watches you or just sleeps puppy needs to learn multiple ways of spending time. Charley is like most HAVS - he wants to be with me all the time. But when I'm not with him, he plays with his toys, chews his bones and seems very happy and comfortable.

It sounds like what you are doing is just perfect.

I found this sleep, play schedule very helpful as a guide.
I noticed one day that Dalsotn had a lot of play and walking he went completely nuts, all of a sudden, he was really wild and bitey and growley and even barked which he usually never does. I learned that he must have been overly tired and really needed some sleep, although he seemed like having lot's of energy!

I thought I share for other families with the sleep deprived puppies!
