Coat Changing Color???

Pixie will be 5 months old on Tuesday. She is all cream except for a very light streek from her nose thru her tail of a light caramel color. In the past 2 or 3 days this caramel color seems to be spreading thru the rest of her coat. Is this normal?

Yes, that is normal. Havanese are quite known for their color changes.

That can be one of the best parts Do you know what the coloring was like on your dog's parents and grandparents?

Our Roxie is like that. It goes and comes and probably will keep doing that forever.

Marble was a beautiful mixture of grey, sable and white (hence the name Marble), and he changed to almost all cream (now the name, Marble, doesn't make sense). I miss his puppy color so much, and it was here I learned they change colors. I never knew they can go from white to caramel, like Pixie. I think that's so interesting. Keep sending pics of her.

Amanda - Pixie's mommy is all black and her daddy is all cream. I didn't think to ask about grandma and grandpa.

Leslie - Thanks so much for the link. I can't believe some of those color changes are so drastic!!! I've read not to choose a puppy for it's coloring, but to choose for personality. We chose Pixie because I wanted a female in the house...(We have 2 boys and we had a wonderful male cat for 18 1/2 years - I felt I needed some girl power!!!)
