Whimpering when playing

Dexter is healthy and very playful, but was wondering if any other pups out there do this:

At times, Dexter will grab or go get a toy when thrown and then while he is walking away with the toy, Dexter will whimper while still walking away with the toy and............then all of sudden, no more whimpering. Whimpering will only last less than 30 seconds.

Any pups out there feeling sorry about their toys that they have to make their toys cry? Just wondering????

Scooter does it sometimes with his favorite toy, it's a stuffed heart that came free with some stuff we ordered from Petflys. Then he'll put it on a chair and roll around on it. I think he's just so happy he can't contain himself and it's very funny to watch!

Dexter is probably just really happy to have his toy! Maybe it's his favorite.

Yes, Dexter only does the whimpering with only a few of the toys, not all of them. I really thought something was wrong with Dexter and.................I thought the toy was making that sound.....it freaked me out!

Rey does not whimper but will growl at his toys as he is attacking them. He thinks he is really fierce. He has a tennis ball duck that is his favorite. He really "kills" the tennis ball duck; he stalks, pounces & growls, shakes, and tosses it in the air, just to start over again. I guess he does not have the empathy yet. Hope this is not a preminition of things to come

Dexter will growl when trying to take away the toy. He does shake the toys and he might have a low growl while trying to kill the toy.

Dexter will go to a toy and go from one end of the toy to the other and find the squeak part in the toy and then pick the toy up, shaking and biting the toy and running. He will come to us and tease us into playing with him by going to and from us.

If we ignore Dexter while he wants to play, he will bring the toy over to us and touch our skin with part of the toy and often drop the toy, so we play with Dexter.

I'm sure Dexter has to try REALLY hard to coax you into playing .

I know I can't EVER resist a puppy playtime! What am I setting myself up for?

Meepo doesn't like his toys unless one of us is actively playing with him. I'll play tug-o-war with him for awhile and then try to throw the toy so he can chase it, but he just looks at me like "well now what are we going to play with?"

He makes all kinds of growly noises when he's trying to kill the toy while I'm playing with him, and he whines to get me to come play with him in the first place.

How old is Meepo? We played with Dexter almost constantly when we first arrived home and then when he was playing on his own, we would leave him alone (we were in the same room), but we would not disturb an independent play.

I want independent play since Dexter is an only furbaby.

Yea..........Dexter does not have to do a lot of convincing me to play with him, a tired pup is a good pup!

Sometimes Evye shakes her toys so fiercely, I'm worried she is going to get "shaken baby syndrome." I try not to interfere with independent play. I actually treasure it.

I have the grandkids tonight. It's so nice...they get to wear her out and I get to visit the forum without interruption.

Meepo is 11 weeks. I try to leave him alone if he plays by himself but he doesn't like to play by himself at all, he insists that we play with him.
