Puppy food

Hello! I went into this small mom/ pop holistic pet store. The owner was there and I bought a bunch of items. He gave me a bag of dog food to try. It's called Holistic Health Extension. Any good?!?! Tried looking it up but I only see info from their website! The bag says the ACA endorses the dog food but I thought I would ask the pros to step in. we bring our puppy home on 4/28 so we getting ready!!! breeder gave me a bag of Nutro Ultra this week when we visited

I think it's a decent food. Personally I like it better than the Nutro.

Thanks Rita!!! I was not sure if the owner was trying to push that brand on me- he said he owns part I the manufacturing plant so he sees how it is made. He said he likes better than nutro too! I may try it. What are your thoughts on blue buffalo??
We can't wait to bring our puppy home! Still debating on name!!!!

Not a fan of the Blue Buffalo, there are many reports of dogs having diarrhea and vomiting from that, not a scientific study but I personally would stay away. The Vets Extension is supposedly made locally. I use the dogfoodadvisor.com website a lot. They have an admitted bias toward high protein, lower carb foods, but it's helpful to me so I can make my own decisions. BTW, my daughter graduated from SUNY Binghamton 6 yrs ago. I loved going up there to visit. Loved the Lost Dog Cafe in town, miss it!
Here's a video I really like, There's 2 parts:

I love the lost dog cafe!!!! We live about 20 min. From Binghamton in endwell!!! Thanks for all the help! After watching that video I don't think the health extension has enough protein. What do you feed your dog??

Remember every dog is different and what counts is what your dog does well on. Kibble never really worked well for Riley, he always had tear stains and goopy eyes. I've been feeding him Darwin's raw and a variety of 5 star canned foods, also Honest Kitchen Preference mixed with fresh meat. My new dog, Reo is a real high energy guy and has trouble keeping weight on. I've increased his portions to no avail. Now I'm gonna add in more carbs to see if that helps. I started giving Farmina N&D kibble to the boys, so far so good. You know you have a problem when you start feeding dogs food that's made in Italy!
I've picked out some kibbles to try in the future and i like these for their ingredients/ cost factor: Earthborn Holistic Primitive Natural, Annamaet Ultra or Grain Free, Whole Earth Farms Grain Free, Nutrisource Grain Free, Dr. Tim's Kinesis and Nature's Logic.

Yikes! I'm just remembering we're talking puppy here! Make sure the food you choose is for growth or all life stages!
