Exclamation Ouch!!

Capote got his second set of shots today and his microchip. He's fairly lethargic which the doc said was normal, but everytime I pick him up he yelps and cries so I'm scared how to hold him. Do ya'll know where they have the injection shot normally for the microchip and the shots? If I avoid them then maybe it will cause him less pain...

Awwww, poor Capote I do believe that the microchip is inserted between the shoulder blades near his scruff. As for the shots, Oreo got them on the bummy - right or left cheek. Poor pup, its not fun I remember, but within the next day or two he will be back to his loving and playful self.

What shots did he get?

Did he get a 5way or 7way??

Both of my girls were sore after having shots, but I know that both Corona and Lepto can cause really bad reactions in Hav's... so if he had either, make sure you watch him carefully.

Oh poor, poor Capote!!!

When Bugsy had he shots, they never seemed to effect him one way or the other. He would complain at the time of the shot and then immediately forget all about it. I think Jodi is right, find out if he had 5 in 1 or 7 in one shots.

Hope Capote feels better soon.

he had the 5 in one I think. They said they don't do corona shots there because it was more of a regional thing and breeders only did it normally because they sell that shot in the pet store. Is that normal?

YEs, that is normal. Corona is something that I just learned hasn't been around Sacramento, CA for about 40 years, so most vets don't give it anymore.

I stated in another thread that Mirbel had these same issues. She would get sore for a day with her vaccinations and yelp when you picked her up in a certain way. But, with her microchipping she would yelp even when she tried to move and was very lethargic. I took her in once and they gave her a steroid and pain pill. That wore off after a day and she was back to being in pain and just laying there. I took her in again and they gave her a cortisone injection. This did the trick. By the time it wore off the inflamation and pain had gone away. I was just irritated cause I had asked the vet if it would be a good idea to give her one before the microchipping based on the vaccinations having caused her pain and they thought it wasn't necessary. Just shows that we often know what our little ones need more than others do.

I hope Capote feels better soon!! If he is as miserable as Mirabel was it's kinda scarey.

Kodi never had a problem. either with shots or microchipping.

Shelby did have inflammation and swelling from the MC. It lasted a few days and then everything was back to normal. Just like people, they have different pain tolerances.

I just got both microchipped Wednesday & they both did great. You would never even had known anything was done. I havent had to give them shots yet, so i am not sure how they will do.
