picky eater?

I just wanted to share something to those who have picky eaters....
Has anyone watch the dog whisperer?
He had an extremely interesting episode on tv and you can rent it on dvd....
It was a large breed dog (can't remember the type) who was driving the owner crazy with picky eating.

EXERCISE was the answer. Exercise the dog (even training on a treadmill) BEFORE you feed your dog.

It took a little while I think within a few days and the dog ate whatever cesar fed him, and ate it all!

It doesn't work with my Bella. She will go on an off leash walk for an hour and still refuses to eat. She finally ate this morning, after almost 48hr of eating practically nothing.

My trick for my finicky eaters was feeding them a little less than what was satisfying.... So that they were hungry in the am. I read this in a carol lee benjamen book-- she thought it was much gentler than taking it totally away after 15 minutes. And I learned in the process that I was feeding them too much anyway. my boys always eat now... even Jasper...he even eats kibble in the am while cash gets raw!!!

Dexter ate a bowl full of food today after a long night sleeping. Dexter is very picky/slow eating. He will take a few bites of food and walk away and then come back.

For the past, at least 3 or so days, it has been light eating. I feed less on those days, then when he finishes up a meal in less than 10 minutes; I will give just a little more.

I quit worrying about it.

Linda, I'm with you...here I was worrying so much about them not eating...to read good posts yesterday, where in my galant effort to get them to eat, I was probably overfeeding. I'm just going to stop worrying about it too and trust they won't starve.

How much does Dexter weigh these days. He and Evye were pretty close in weights a few weeks back.
