It depends on the food. I would follow what the instructions say on the bag.

I don't measure....should I? I just give Izzy her bowl of food and she eats until she's done. Her weight is fine and she doesn't over eat. I feed her three times a day as well and she is almost 6 months. When should I cut it back to two times a day?

AS LONG AS HER WEIGHT IS FINE JUST FILLING HER BOWL IS OKAY . AT SIX MONTHS YOU CAN GO TO FEEDING TWICE A DAY.

Duncan gets 1/4 cup of Merrick Puppy Plate which he absolutely loves!!It seems like he can eat it all in about 10 seconds!!
What are the signs of overfeeding?

I think you mentioned that Duncan is bigger for his age so maybe he needs a little more food. Does he get any treats? You might want to consider giving him a little more food at each meal and see if he continues to scarf it down immediately.

I find it hard to figured out how much to feed. I am told that Lily is overweight (17 lbs) and to cut back on her food. She sits at the food bins and crys, whines, barks, cause she is so hungry. I went back to giving her a little more!! My guys get fed 2x a day & ARE done within 30 seconds- sometimes they actually eat so fast that they gag - yikes!!

Laurief - does Lily like steamed veggies? If she does and can tolorates them well, maybe you could add extra veggies to her food to help her fill up without adding kibble. As far as eating the food too quickly, some dogs are like that. My friend has a shepherd mix who inahles her food, so he puts all her food in a Kong so that it takes her a while to get all the food out.

Aren't they supposed to be fed 1 time a day when they get to a certain age?
